Save Food From The Fridge, Jihyun Ryou graduate project of the Design Academy Eindhoven, call into question our assumptions about food storage in the refrigerator. Based on proven scientific theories (which is not dissimilar from the old popular knowledge), Ryou has designed a number of experimental prototypes of handouts to accompany the wall hanging in the kitchen.
The redesign has put into practice different devices for each type of food. Potatoes, for example, do not sprout if stored near apples, which releases ethylene gas. The carrots, however, resist longer if placed vertically. Peppers, zucchini and eggplant are best kept on a tray placed on two fingers of water. Water again, then, can be used to test the freshness of an egg laid by one little fact, sinks and remains horizontal.
All possibilities that allow us to assist two results: healthier foods together with a lower cost energy conservation than the one saved in the refrigerator. Provided you have a more than spacious kitchen and large free walls.
