See Under ecology of building orientation to maximize solar gain; living area on two levels configured for a greenhouse that is beneficial save energy, solar panels and photovoltaic roof of recyclable material.

Knowing how to orient
The correct layout of the building from the sun and the openings of different sizes have been key tools to address the issue of sustainability of the building. In the project, since the design of the volumes of the villa, the architects Ivan and Massimo Rapana have taken account of sun exposure. The windows are reduced on the north side (to prevent entry of the cold, especially in winter), while large windows in the south are shielded from the porch so as not to overheat the interior in summer. The bioclimatic construction also allows to exploit the gains in passive solar winter: the heat is stored by walls and floors that act as storage elements by reducing the costs of implementation and operation of plants.

Energy in a three
The building is equipped with a condensing boiler and radiant floor heating, with several advantages. While you make it comfortable environments in a uniform way and without the production of dust, on the other it makes the most of the volume of the double-height living room. Characteristic of this system and just to heat a volume of air to a maximum height of 3 meters.

The hot water is then obtained for 50% of its total needs from solar panels placed on the roof, as well as photovoltaic panels, connected by a conduit to the heating plant technician located in the basement. The photovoltaic system meets the energy needs of the plant (hot water circulation pumps, central vacuum cleaning system, etc. montapersone.) Besides contributing to the consumption of the dwelling itself.
