Pictoplasma Festival 2011

From 6 to 10 April 2011 loads the Pictoplasma Festival again illustrators, animators and fans, in the creation of Characters – anthropomorphic figures with reduced face – to deepen.

Simplified character representations change since the turn of the century visual culture. Pictograms with vibrant trains experienced explosive growth in digital media, advertising and art. The so-called character design is the world become part of urban life.

Some of the most interesting character artists from around the world will air during the Pictoplasma festival, the secrets of her characters. In lectures provide designers and animation directors insight into their personal work, production processes and their inspiration. Included are among others in the Japanese game designer Keita Takahashi, the French illustrator and rock musicians McBess, the American costume artist Nick Cave (no, not the musician), Ryan Quincy, lead animator South Park, and many more.

Selected bring animation programs moving figures on the big screen, while exhibitions, lectures, workshops and parties in Berlin to become the worldwide epicenter for characters and make their creators.

In addition to the Character Walk for the fourth time that a tour takes in more than twenty galleries and project spaces in Berlin, showing positions of reduced figuration of individual artists and genres, with free admission.
